MP Visits Manjeri; Requests Secretary APWD to Construct Filter Bed for Clean Water Supply

Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands recently visited Manjeri village of South Andaman and during his visit, the villagers informed him that they have been getting untreated and muddy drinking water, which is causing health issues.

The villagers further informed the MP that even though the village is located very close to Dhaniakhali Dam, the villagers are getting drinking water only every third day, which is insufficient for their daily routine.

MP personally visited various water sources in the village and found that water supplied to the villagers is untreated and muddy.

Considering the problems being faced by the villagers of Manjeri, the Member of Parliament, requested the Secretary, APWD to provide water to the village every second day. He also requested the Secretary, APWD to construct a filter bed for water treatment in the village, so that the villagers can get treated water and save themselves from water-borne diseases.
