Port Blair, 04 July 2024

In a significant move to enhance the welfare and economic stability of islanders, the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has announced key changes to the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The modifications include the addition of poultry farming, dairy farming, and goat rearing activities to the scheme.

This initiative aims to provide islanders with new avenues for self-employment, promoting sustainable livelihoods. To support this, specialized training programs have been developed by the A&N Islands Khadi & Village Industries Board in collaboration with the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services. These programs will ensure participants acquire the necessary skills and knowledge in poultry farming, dairy farming, and goat rearing to succeed in these new ventures.

Interested beneficiaries are encouraged to apply for these courses to gain professional expertise. The training will not only equip them with practical skills but also enable them to access financial assistance to establish their own self-employment ventures under the PMEGP scheme.

Eligible beneficiaries, aged 18 to 45, can apply for the training courses by submitting an application form to the Director of Industries & Member Secretary, A&NI KVIB. The forms can be downloaded from www.andaman.gov.in/Ann_all and must be submitted by July 15, 2024. Completed forms, along with relevant documents, can be submitted directly at the Office of the A&N Islands Khadi & Village Industries Board, Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, Port Blair, or to the nearest Extension Office of the Industries Department. Alternatively, forms can be sent by post.

Only those genuinely interested in self-employment ventures are encouraged to apply for the training. Upon successful completion, trainees will be linked with the PMEGP scheme to establish their own units. For more details, candidates can contact the office of the A&NI KVIB on any working day during office hours or via phone at 03192-233301.
