The District Level Sports Meet 2025-26 was successfully held today at the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajyakiya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram, under the banner of MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event was coordinated by the Andaman Mahila Mandal and witnessed enthusiastic participation from sportspersons across the district.
The meet brought together winners of the Block Level Sports Meets from Little Andaman, Ferrargunj and Prothrapur Blocks, offering young athletes a competitive platform to showcase their talent at the district level. A series of group and individual events were conducted, including Volleyball (Men), Tug of War (Women), 100 Metres Run for Men and Women, and Table Tennis Singles in both men’s and women’s categories. The presence of block-level champions ensured high-quality competition and a spirited sporting atmosphere throughout the day.
Padma Shri Awardee and Swachhata Ambassador Naresh Chandra Lall attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he encouraged the youth to identify their potential and strive for excellence with the goal of progressing to the national level. He also appealed to young people to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle through regular participation in sports and physical activities.
Earlier, Sukha Ranjan Biswas, Joint Director, MY Bharat, welcomed the Chief Guest and outlined the objectives of the District Level Sports Meet. He highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork and positive engagement among the youth.
The event received official support from Vinod Kumar Sharma and Sunita Patil. Gopal Ch. Biswas of MY Bharat coordinated the programme, playing a key role in the smooth conduct and overall success of the district-level meet.
