N & M Andaman Police Conducts Successful Excise Raids, Seizes Significant Quantity of Illegal IMFL and Handia

In a significant move to curb the illicit sale and distribution of alcohol, the Excise team of PS Diglipur, led by SI Dheeraj Kishen, along with a team comprising HC (IRBn) Khokan Ch. Das, and PCs K.K Pandey, Hari Krishna, and Trilochni, conducted a series of targeted raids across various locations. Acting on credible intelligence, the team executed the operations with precision, resulting in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Handia.

During the raids, a total of 70 bottles of IMFL of varying quantities and 03 bottles of beer were seized by the Excise team of PS Diglipur. Additionally, the team also confiscated 12 kg of illicit Handia, highlighting the severity of the illegal alcohol trade in the region. Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Excise Regulation in connection with these seizures.

In a separate raid conducted on 16th April 2024, the team from PS Baratang, led by SI Surjit Bhattacharya and comprising PCs M. Ashok Kumar, Ramesh, and Karishma Lakra, seized 52 kg of illicit Handia from the possession of Hiralall Barik, a resident of Kanchangarh, Baratang. A case under the Excise Regulation has been filed against the accused.

All operations were carried out under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, and Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, SDPO Diglipur, under the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
