Nalanda and Sindhu Vessel operations at Katchal Port have been temporarily suspended due to prevailing inclement weather conditions, making navigation unsafe for both passengers and crew, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) announced.

The inter-island ships Nalanda and Sindhu are currently unable to operate at Katchal Port as a safety precaution. DSS stated that the vessels will resume their scheduled calls at the port once weather conditions improve.

As a result of the disruption, Nalanda‘s scheduled sailing to Campbell Bay on May 27 at 9:00 AM from Sri Vijaya Puram via Nancowry and Katchal, as well as her return voyage on May 29 at 6:00 AM from Campbell Bay, will bypass Katchal.

According to the revised itinerary, Nalanda will instead sail to Campbell Bay via Nancowry directly from Haddo Wharf on May 27 at 9:00 AM, and return to Sri Vijaya Puram on May 29 at 8:00 AM, again via Nancowry.

To facilitate the movement of passengers and cargo bound for Katchal, DSS has assured that necessary connectivity arrangements will be made at Nancowry Island.
