The Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) has revised the sailing schedule of vessel Nalanda in view of the weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has predicted the likely formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

For the safety of passengers and vessels, the scheduled sailing of Nalanda to Campbell Bay via Nancowry and Katchal on September 2, as well as her return voyage from Campbell Bay on September 4, has been postponed.

As per the revised schedule, Nalanda will now sail from Haddo Wharf to Campbell Bay via Nancowry and Katchal on September 4 at 0900 hrs. The vessel will return from Campbell Bay on September 6 at 0600 hrs via the same route.

The Directorate has also cautioned that, due to prevailing inclement weather, Inter-Island and Foreshore Sector vessel services may face suspension or cancellation at short notice. Operations of Harbour and Vehicle ferry services between Chatham, Bambooflat, Dundas Point, Hopetown, Phoenix Bay, and outstations may also be disrupted depending on weather conditions.
