In an unwavering effort to combat the illicit drug trade, the Narcotics Cell of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) achieved a significant breakthrough by intercepting and arresting an individual in possession of 7.220 kilograms of Ganja. The operation was carried out following a precise intelligence tip-off.
A dedicated team from the Narcotics Cell, CID Unit, comprising of Inspector S. Kannan, Sub-Inspectors Mohd. Rahil Islam and Parvash from PS Central Crime Station (CCS), as well as Head Constable Sharfudeen and Police Constables Ratan Das, Nandita Mistry, Vishal Kumar, and M. Raja Rao, executed the operation under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Vinay Mathur, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The operation targeted an individual identified as Mrs. Dipa Roy, wife of Mr. Bijoy Biswas and a resident of Kolkata. Mrs. Roy had recently arrived in Port Blair from Kolkata on September 25, 2023, via a Spicejet flight. Acting swiftly upon the intelligence input, law enforcement officials intercepted Mrs. Roy and subsequently discovered a concealed stash of 7.220 kilograms of Ganja concealed within her luggage.
Authorities promptly arrested Mrs. Dipa Roy, following all legal protocols and procedures. A case has been registered against her under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 at PS CCS. The investigation into this case is currently underway.
