In commemoration of National Book Week 2023, an enlightening program focusing on motivational and career guidance was orchestrated by the Directorate of Education. Held in the Mini Conference Hall at the esteemed State Library in Port Blair, the event aimed to steer young minds toward their professional aspirations. Representatives from various departments converged to deliver inspirational talks tailored for students of Class VIII and IX.
The fervent call echoed throughout the session was to pursue careers aligned with one’s passion and interest, fostering an environment where work becomes a source of enjoyment. Officials and resource persons from seven different departments lent their expertise to enlighten the students on diverse career paths.
Mr. N Bala Krishnan, the Head of Political Science at JNRM, shared valuable insights emphasising the importance of preparation for competitive exams. Meanwhile, Mr. K Sunil Kumar, a distinguished trainer from the Government ITI in Dollygunj holding BE and ME degrees, shed light on the array of courses available at the institution.
The session further expanded to encompass the spectrum of professional opportunities available. Mr. P Kaliswaran, a faculty member at the State Bank of India in Port Blair, delved into skill development programs offered by SBI-RSETI. Ms. K Binu, Assistant Employment Officer at the Model Career Center, elucidated the pivotal role of the centre in shaping careers through the Employment Exchange.
Diverse career paths were unraveled as Mr. P Jeevan, SI at the Police Station Aberdeen, provided a comprehensive guide detailing the qualifications and prerequisites for joining the police force. Dr. Neena Alex, a Medical Officer with DHS, navigated through the vast landscape of professions within the medical sector, opening students’ eyes to varied opportunities.
Er. Johnson Abraham, an esteemed Member of the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission for A & N Islands, encapsulated the enriching session by summarising the invaluable insights shared.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Anbarasan, In-charge at the State Library, setting the tone for an engaging and enlightening day for the eager students seeking direction in their future endeavours.
