National Book Week 2025 Concludes with Prize Distribution & Inauguration of Children’s Art, Craft and Chess Room at State Library

The National Book Week–2025 concluded on 20th November 2025, with a valedictory and prize distribution ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the State Library. Mr. Vikram Singh, Director (Education), graced the event as the chief guest and encouraged students to make full use of the library’s dedicated learning spaces designed to nurture creativity and intellectual growth.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Singh informed that the Education Department, in collaboration with Shankar IAS Academy, Chennai, is planning to introduce online coaching for UPSC aspirants of the Islands—an initiative aimed at strengthening opportunities for competitive exam preparation. He later presented prizes to the winners of various competitions held throughout the week. Carmel Senior Secondary School was awarded the special trophy for the overall best performing school of the year.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Directorate of Education, including Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, DDE (HoO/Acad.), and Dr. Dheeraj Kumar, DDE (Perl). In her welcome address, Ms. Archana Singh, Nodal Officer, State Library, congratulated all participants of the drawing and elocution competitions and praised their enthusiasm. She urged students to continue exploring their talents through reading and creative activities.

A highlight of the occasion was the inauguration of a Special Art and Craft Centre and a dedicated Chess Room for children on the ground floor of the State Library, opened by the chief guest to promote recreational learning.

This year’s National Book Week saw remarkable participation, with over 1,700 students from Wimberlygunj Zone and Sri Vijaya Puram visiting the library during the week-long celebration.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Anbarasan, In-Charge of the State Library.
