In line with the Government of India’s commitment to the Anaemia Mukt Bharat initiative and ensuring a worm-free future for children, the National De-Worming Day (NDD) 2026 (February round) will be observed across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on February 11, 2026, followed by a mop-up day on February 17, 2026.

National De-Worming Day is a nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, implemented in coordination with the Department of Women and Child Development and the Department of School Education and Literacy. The programme aims to reduce the prevalence of intestinal worm infestation, which adversely affects the nutritional status of children and is a major contributing factor to anaemia and related health complications.

Under the programme, all children and adolescents in the age group of 1 to 19 years will be administered Albendazole tablets through Schools and Anganwadi Centres across the Islands.

Parents have been urged to ensure that their children receive the de-worming tablet at their respective Schools and Anganwadi Centres on the scheduled dates. The general public has also been requested to extend full cooperation to ANMs, Anganwadi Workers and ASHAs, and to help spread awareness to ensure the effective implementation of the programme.

The initiative forms an important component of the national strategy to improve child health, nutrition and overall well-being by preventing worm-related morbidity and anaemia.
