The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, will organize the National Lok Adalat on March 8, 2025. The event will take place at the District Court Complex in Sri Vijaya Puram, the Sub-Divisional Court Complex in Mayabunder, and the Circuit Court at Diglipur.
The National Lok Adalat will entertain compoundable cases pending in various courts, as well as disputes at the pre-litigation stage for amicable settlement. Pre-litigation disputes eligible for resolution include:
- Cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act
- Money recovery cases
- Labour disputes
- Electricity and water bill disputes (excluding non-compoundable cases)
- Maintenance cases
- Civil disputes
- Disputes under the Consumer Protection Act
Members of the public with disputes, either at the pre-litigation or post-litigation stage, are encouraged to submit their cases in writing to the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Sri Vijaya Puram, by February 27, 2025. This will ensure that their matters are processed and scheduled for hearing during the National Lok Adalat on March 8.
The National Lok Adalat aims to provide an opportunity for disputing parties to reach a mutually acceptable resolution, saving time and resources while reducing the burden on the judiciary.
