District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has announced the upcoming National Lok Adalat, scheduled to be held on June 15, 2024. The event will take place at multiple locations including the District Court Complex in Port Blair, the Sub-Divisional Court Complex in Mayabunder, and the Circuit Court in Diglipur.
The National Lok Adalat will address not only compoundable cases pending in various courts but also pre-litigation disputes, aiming for consensual settlements between the parties involved. This initiative provides a significant opportunity for the resolution of various legal disputes efficiently and amicably.
Pre-litigation disputes that will be considered include cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, money recovery cases, labor disputes, cases involving electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable cases), maintenance cases, civil disputes, and disputes under the Consumer Protection Act.
The DLSA encourages individuals with relevant disputes, either at the pre-litigation stage or post-litigation stage, to submit their cases in writing to the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority in Port Blair by June 7, 2024. This submission deadline ensures that disputes can be processed and prepared for hearing at the National Lok Adalat.
This initiative aims to expedite the resolution process and reduce the backlog of cases, promoting a more efficient legal system and providing relief to the parties involved through an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
