In a significant boost to local agriculture, a new 5000-nut capacity Hot Air Blower type Copra Dryer has been installed and is now operational at the Seed Multiplication Farm in Bloomsdale, Chouldari. This facility is set to benefit farmers across South Andaman who have registered on the e-samridhi portal, offering them the opportunity to convert coconuts into copra free of charge.
Farmers utilizing the copra dryer must provide their own biomass or fuel for the conversion process. Additionally, no storage facilities for coconuts or copra are available on the farm premises. Farmers are advised to complete the copra making process within 4-5 days and transport the produced copra immediately thereafter.
Application forms and terms and conditions for using the copra dryer are available at the nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot or the Office of the Assistant Director (Agri), South Andaman. Facilities will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis, based on the applications received and maintained in a roster.
Technical guidance for operating the copra dryer will be provided by departmental officials under the overall supervision of the Farm In-charge. For further information, farmers can contact the Kisan Call Centre at 03192 243434 or toll-free at 1800 345 1145, or visit the nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot.
