The Department of Sports has announced a revised date for the upcoming selection trials for wild card entries into the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025. Originally scheduled for April 12, the trials will now be held on April 19, 2025, at 6:00 AM at the Netaji Stadium Sports Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The rescheduling was necessitated due to inclement weather conditions and fewer registrations across the seven disciplines for which the trials are being conducted: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Yogasana.

The selected athletes from these trials will earn wild card entries to represent the Union Territory in the KIYG 2025, which is slated to take place in Bihar from May 4 to 15, 2025.

Interested participants are required to report to the Assistant Director (Sports), Department of Sports at the venue with all necessary documents. The eligibility criteria remain unchanged and include:

– Age Limit: Athletes must be born on or after January 1, 2007 (Under-18 category).

– Age Verification (any two documents): Aadhaar Card or Passport, Matriculation Certificate, and Birth Certificate (issued on or before January 1, 2020, by a Municipal Corporation or Gram Panchayat).

– Eligibility to Represent a State/UT: Submission of either a State Domicile Certificate or Passport is mandatory.

Selection will be based on athletes’ past performances in international, national, state, or district-level tournaments held during 2022, 2023, or 2024. Preference will be given to States/UTs with fewer participants in the previous edition of KIYG. Notably, only one wild card entry per event is allowed per State/UT, and athletes already qualified on merit are not eligible for wild card consideration in the same event.

The Department of Sports has clarified that accommodation will be provided to participants, while travel and daily allowances (TA/DA) must be borne by the athletes themselves.

For further information, athletes are advised to contact the Department of Sports and ensure that all required documents are in order at the time of reporting.
