The Civil Aviation Department of Andaman and Nicobar Administration have revised the schedule of Pawan Hans Helicopters operating in the inter-island sector. As per the new schedule, Campbell Bay will now get three helicopter services every week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Kamorta will get three helicopter services every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Katchal will now get three helicopter services every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Chowra will now get two helicopter services every week on Monday and Wednesday. Teressa will get helicopter services every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Car Nicobar has helicopter services everyday, except Sunday because it is a stopover for helicopter services for other Islands of the Nicobar Group. However Car Nicobar has been allotted two dedicated helicopter services every week on Tuesday ad Thursday.
This new schedule will come into force on 20th of November 2020.
Hutbay has been allotted three helicopter services every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Helicopters will now ferry passengers to Havelock every week on Monday and Saturday.
Mayabunder the District Headquarters of North and Middle Andaman District has been allotted four helicopter services per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The residents of the Nicobar District have been demanding for increase in Helicopter Services to the match the Pre-COVID levels but the new schedule doesn’t seem to entertain the requests of the Islanders living in the far flung areas.
Campbell Bay and Car Nicobar were also served with IAF Dornier for ferrying passengers twice a week, before the COVID-19 outbreak and the residents of Campbell Bay are now demanding the resumption of the service to enable people to travel incase of emergencies.
