In a move aimed at boosting adventure and eco-tourism, the Directorate of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Administration has announced plans to introduce water sports activities such as Glass-Bottom Boat rides and Parasailing at New Wandoor Beach, near the Fish Landing Jetty.
The initiative comes in response to a long-standing demand raised by local residents and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of the area. Officials said the proposed activities are intended to enhance the overall visitor experience at New Wandoor Beach while promoting sustainable tourism practices.
Apart from adding new attractions for tourists, the introduction of water sports is expected to create livelihood opportunities for local residents, particularly youth, by generating employment in tourism-related services.
In this regard, the Directorate of Tourism has invited applications from interested operators for running Glass-Bottom Boat and Parasailing services. Applications may be submitted to the Watersports Section of the Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration.
The move is seen as part of the Administration’s broader efforts to diversify tourism offerings and strengthen community participation in the tourism sector across the Islands. (Story Based on PR)
