National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited has called the tender for the Balance Work of the Middle Strait – Baratang Bridge.
The tender was published on 23rd March 2023 and will be opened on the 4th of May 2023.
Earlier, M/s Mantena Constructions Pvt. Ltd. – Vasishta Constructions Pvt. Ltd. Bridge (JV) had secured the contract for the construction of the bridge but the company failed to complete the bridge construction.
The target date of completion of the bridge earlier as per the earlier contract was 02/01/2022.
Another major bridge over the National Highway-4 over the Humphrey Strait Creek was completed and is currently operational.
Middle Strait – Baratang Bridge is an important infrastructure project and will considerably ease the lives of the citizens once completed.
The bridge will connect South Andaman and Baratang Island and will replace the current system where vehicles are transferred between both Islands on a vehicle ferry. The bridge will help in saving precious time of travellers as well as help boost the economic growth of the North and Middle Andaman District.
