NIC & C-DAC Celebrates Safer Internet Day 2025 with Awareness Workshops in South Andaman

The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Sri Vijaya Puram, in collaboration with the C-DAC under the ISEA Project, organized awareness workshops to mark Safer Internet Day 2025. The event, held on February 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., took place at Chouldhari Community Hall under the Chouldhari Gram Panchayat and at the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) in Sri Vijaya Puram.

With the global theme “Together for a Better Internet,” the workshop aimed to educate the public on safe online practices, cyber hygiene, and protection against digital threats.


The session at Chouldhari Gram Panchayat saw enthusiastic participation from around 90 attendees, including PRI members, students, teachers, farmers, and local residents.
Key dignitaries at the event included Mr. Shivaji Mukherjee, SIO NIC Andaman and Nicobar UT Centre, the Branch Manager of SBI Chouldhari Branch, and officials from the Cyber Crime Police Station of Andaman and Nicobar Police.


The workshop at TGCE attracted approximately 120 participants, including the Vice Chairman of the Municipal Corporation, ANIIMS interns, students, teachers, farmers, business representatives, and members of the public.


The event was graced by Mr. Ravi Chandran, Vice Chairman of SVPMC, the Principal of TGCE, the ASIO of NIC Andaman and Nicobar UT Centre, the Branch Manager of PNB Garacharma Branch, and officials from PS Cyber Crime.


Experts from NIC, PS Cyber Crime, SBI Chouldhari Branch, and PNB Garacharma Branch conducted interactive sessions covering essential topics such as cybersecurity best practices, online fraud prevention, responsible internet usage, and digital safety measures.

Practical demonstrations and case studies helped attendees understand emerging cyber threats and proactive ways to protect themselves in the digital world.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to promote cybersecurity awareness and foster a safer, more responsible digital environment. Participants expressed appreciation for the informative sessions and praised the initiative’s efforts to build digital resilience in the community.
