Nicobar District Police Achieves Outstanding Law Enforcement Milestones in 2023

In a testament to their relentless commitment to upholding law and order, the Nicobar District Police have achieved remarkable success in 2023, showcasing a 99% workout rate for all cases and an unparalleled 100% execution rate of summons and warrants.

The dedicated efforts of the Nicobar District Police led to the resolution of a total of 165 cases throughout the year. Among these were 11 Indian Penal Code (IPC) cases, 24 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases, 5 Information Technology (IT) Act cases, and 2 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases involving the seizure of 2.304 kilograms of Methamphetamine and 1.100 kilograms of Cocaine. Furthermore, the police diligently handled 123 Excise cases, resulting in a comprehensive 99% workout rate.

Going beyond conventional policing, the Nicobar District Police took proactive measures to engage with the community. They organised a total of 879 awareness campaigns addressing crucial societal issues such as POCSO Act violations, drug addiction, drunken driving, cybercrime, and adherence to traffic rules.

Throughout the year, a total of 1055 summons and 171 warrants were received from various courts in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Remarkably, the Nicobar District Police achieved a 100% execution rate, demonstrating their efficiency in ensuring the legal process is served.

The fight against illicit activities saw every police station in the Nicobar district adopting a proactive stance against bootlegging. Frequent jungle searches resulted in the seizure of 128 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 3 litres of beer, 307 litres of illicit liquor, the destruction of 4500 litres of Lehan, and the confiscation of 96 kilograms of Handia across Nicobar District in 123 cases.

Traffic safety initiatives were equally robust, with a total of 2130 challans issued, collecting fines amounting to Rs. 11,32,000/-. Additionally, 54 individuals driving under the influence of alcohol were apprehended, reinforcing the Nicobar District Police’s unwavering commitment to public safety.

A pivotal moment highlighting the effectiveness of the police force occurred on 14/02/2023, when a timely response from the PS Car Nicobar team saved the life of Timothy, who had jumped into the sea at Malacca jetty.

The achievements of the Nicobar District Police in 2023 underscore their proactive and dedicated approach towards maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of the community they serve.
