Nicobar District Police Organises Dr. B. Srikanth Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament Season-VIII

Nicobar District Police proudly inaugurated the Dr. B. Srikanth Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament 2024, Season-VIII, paying homage to the esteemed Late Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS, who served as the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District. The vibrant event commenced at BJR Stadium, Tamaloo, Car Nicobar on May 5, 2024.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Group Captain Rajiv Dobhal VM(G), Station Commander, Air Force Station, Car Nicobar, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Lionald Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, honoured the event as the Guest of Honour. The solemn proceedings began with a heartfelt floral tribute to Late Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS, followed by a poignant two-minute silence prayer in his memory.

Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, delivered a warm welcome address, extending greetings to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, dignitaries, spectators, and participating teams. He lauded the collaborative efforts of Police Officials, Merchant Association of Car Nicobar, and other stakeholders in organizing the tournament promptly. Emphasizing the essence of exemplary sportsmanship, respect for officials’ decisions, and fair play, Mr. Gupta underscored the significance of upholding these values throughout the tournament.

With anticipation high, 27 teams entered the competition, each eager to claim the prestigious Dr. B. Srikanth Memorial Cricket Trophy. The tournament commenced with an electrifying match between Small Lapathy Sporting Club and Mus-A team. Despite the sweltering heat, a substantial audience witnessed a captivating display of cricketing prowess from both sides. Ultimately, Small Lapathy Sporting Club clinched victory with a 15-run lead over Mus-A.

Srikanth Memorial Rolling Trophy Cricket Tournament 2024, Season-VIII, promises to be a riveting exhibition of talent, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, serving as a fitting tribute to the legacy of Late Dr. B.
