Passengers travelling from Inter-Island Sector to Port Blair have been exempted from COVID-19 testing irrespective of their vaccination status, provided that the passengers are asymptomatic.
A circular in this regard has been sent to All Health Institutions/ COVID-19 sampling and testing centres across A & N Islands by Dr. Avijit Roy, Deputy Director (Health), Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Nodal Officer, COVID-19.
The circular further mentions that no symptomatic passengers will be allowed to travel from Inter-Island Sector to Port Blair.
The circular further mentioned that the testing for passengers travelling from Port Blair to Inter-Island Sector will be carried out as per the current SOP in view of the emergence of Omicron Variant to avoid any outbreak scenario in the UT.
The decision to do away with the COVID-19 testing for travel from Inter-Island Sector to Port Blair will provide great relief to the Islanders. The Islanders used to face a lot of problems earlier in travelling from Inter-Island Sector to Port Blair.
