No Transfer for MTS of Education Department Posted at Great Nicobar Long After Completing their Tenure

Campbell Bay, 27 December 2022

Education Department transferred eight Multi Tasking Staff to Campbell Bay in July 2019. All eight Multi Tasking Staff were posted at different schools of Great Nicobar Island and have been sincerely performing their duties since their posting.

All Multi Tasking Staff completed their tenure long back in July 2021 and have been waiting for their transfer to a favourable place of posting. Only one out of the eight MTS got transferred out of Great Nicobar.

Multi Tasking Staff posted in other departments of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, posted around the same time as those in the Education Department have been transferred out of Great Nicobar Island long back.

Education Department has failed to transfer the Multi Tasking Staff posted in their department at Great Nicobar even after they have served 1 year and 5 months in addition to their mandated tenure in Nicobar District.

A family member of one of the MTS posted in the Education Department at Campbell Bay informed Nicobar Times that the Senior Officers of the Education Department are not willing to meet them if it is regarding the transfer of their relative from Campbell Bay.

Recently, Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party and Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands raised the issue of strictly implementing the transfer policy in Nicobar District for all departments. Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma also demanded that the tenure of Govt. Employees of all departments under the Administration should be reduced to 01 year in Nicobar District.

Govt. Employees often complain that once they are transferred to any place in Nicobar District it becomes very difficult for them to get themselves transferred to any other place, even after serving years in addition to their mandated tenure.

Departments under Andaman and Nicobar Administration usually does not adhere to the Transfer Policy when it comes to transferring employees out of Nicobar District, because of this employees use every influence to avoid joining duty in the Islands of Nicobar District.

Employees who have completed their mandated tenure in Nicobar District should be immediately transferred to a favourable place, to end the hesitation among the Govt. Employees when transferred to Nicobars.
