In a bid to empower and inspire local youth, the North & Middle Andaman District Police has launched the “DISHA” initiative—a comprehensive career guidance program aimed at students aspiring for careers in Civil Services and the Armed Forces. The program, designed to mentor and provide detailed insights into these prestigious fields, aims to guide students on their preparation journey for such competitive careers.

The second career guidance session under the “DISHA” initiative took place on September 30 at the SP Office Conference Hall in North & Middle Andaman District (N&MA). The event saw enthusiastic participation from 32 students representing two schools from Billiground—PM SHRI GSSS, Swadesh Nagar, and GSSS CFO Nallah.

Personal Experiences and Insights Shared by Senior Officials:

The session was led by key officials who shared personal experiences and offered detailed guidance to the students. Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (SP) of N&MA, drew from her own journey in Civil Services to provide valuable insights on how to build a successful career in the field. She offered the students a step-by-step approach to preparing for the IAS and IPS examinations, focusing on effective strategies, time management, and staying motivated during the rigorous preparation process.

Additionally, Mr. Rinson Robinson, Deputy Commandant of the Indian Coast Guard in Mayabunder, spoke to the students about the process of becoming an officer in the Armed Forces. He explained the different levels of examinations required for recruitment and offered practical advice on how to approach and succeed in these tests.

Major Zaheruddin Khan of the Indian Army also contributed to the session, delivering an insightful talk on the Agniveer Scheme and officer-level entry. His presentation highlighted the key aspects of the scheme, which provides a pathway for youth to join the Armed Forces, and emphasized the opportunities available to aspiring officers.

DISHA Initiative’s Impact on the Community:

The “DISHA” initiative is part of a larger effort by the North & Middle Andaman District Police to engage with the youth of the district and equip them with the knowledge and guidance necessary for a successful career in national service. By focusing on Civil Services and Armed Forces recruitment, the program aims to open new avenues of opportunity for students while contributing to the district’s overall development.

The initiative will continue to hold career guidance sessions across the district, ensuring that more students can benefit from expert mentorship and make informed decisions about their future careers.

This community-driven effort is expected to have a positive impact on the district’s youth, empowering them to pursue their ambitions in serving the nation through Civil Services or Armed Forces careers.
