The Directorate of Education & Sports, in collaboration with the Deputy Education Officer, Wimberlygunj, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), is set to host the ‘North Bay Road Marathon 5.0 (Khel Ka Nasha)’ along with a Cycle Rally on November 23. The event will commence at 6 AM and follow the scenic route from Chunnabatta (Ram Mandir) to North Bay and back, offering participants a refreshing athletic experience amidst the natural beauty of the region.
The marathon is open to all Islanders and school students from the Wimberlygunj Educational Zone, with no entry fee. It will feature four categories: a 10 km run for men (Islanders only) and school boys, and a 5 km run for women (Islanders only) and school girls. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners across all categories, encouraging broader participation and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship among the youth and the local community.
In addition to the run, a Cycle Rally will also be organized as part of the event. Participants are required to bring their own bicycles. The Sports Authority of India will distribute T-shirts to all participants as a gesture of encouragement. Registration for both the marathon and the cycle rally will take place at the venue from 5 AM onwards. The organizers have invited all eligible individuals to join the initiative and promote fitness and healthy living.
