The District Administration of North & Middle Andaman, led by Deputy Commissioner Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, and Assistant Commissioner Mr. Vikash Kumar, has taken proactive steps to address public grievances and accelerate the resolution of pending issues as part of the ongoing ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ initiative.

During her recent visit to Kadamtala, Ms. Maharaj held an interactive session with PRI members and local residents, focusing on key community concerns and ensuring swift redressal. A Revenue Camp Court was convened at the Zilla Parishad Hall, Kadamtala, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner herself, to conduct hearings on matters related to subdivision, name correction, and mutation. Orders pertaining to these cases were promptly issued to local residents.

One of the landmark outcomes of this camp was the correction of a decades-old clerical error in the land records of 86-year-old settler Mr. Sunil Biswas and his family. Descendants of a Bengali settler who arrived under the Government Resettlement Scheme of 1954, Mr. Biswas and his siblings had struggled for years due to an erroneous recording of their relation name in the Record of Rights (RoR). This error had prevented them from transferring land rights within the family despite repeated efforts to rectify the issue. Ms. Maharaj personally reviewed the case and ordered the necessary corrections, bringing much-needed relief to the family. Expressing their gratitude, Mr. Biswas and his relatives praised the administration’s prompt and compassionate intervention.

In addition to grievance redressal, the Deputy Commissioner inspected several ongoing development projects in Kadamtala, Shantanu, and Uttara villages, including the Garbage Dumping Yard, Garbage Segregation Unit, PMAY Cluster, Amrit Sarovar, Dinghi Ghat, an under-construction school building, Uttara Gram Panchayat, and VKZPV.

She also visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kadamtala, engaging with doctors and medical staff to assess challenges and improve healthcare services for the community.

Reiterating her commitment to efficient governance and citizen welfare, Ms. Maharaj emphasized the importance of timely resolutions to pending matters. Her hands-on approach, backed by the District Administration, reflects the administration’s dedication to enhancing public services and expediting land and development-related issues without undue delay.
