In their relentless pursuit to combat the illegal trade of narcotic drugs and substances, the Kalighat Police Station’s team made a significant breakthrough on October 21, 2023. A raid led to the seizure of 85 grams of ganja and the arrest of one individual.
Acting on credible information, a specialised police team composed of Sub-Inspector Shilpi Singha, Station House Officer (SHO) at the Kalighat Police Station, and Head Constables Ashok Sammadar and Sumangala, along with Police Constables Ranjit Biswas, Sushil Sarkar, Melody Arthur, and Niti Singh, conducted a meticulously planned operation in the Kishori Nagar area. The operation took place under the watchful eye of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Diglipur.
During the raid, the police discovered 85 grams of ganja in the residence of the accused. The narcotics were promptly seized in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Subsequently, the accused, identified as Lila Debi, aged 46 and residing in Kishori Nagar, was taken into custody.
The entire operation unfolded under the direct supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for North & Middle Andaman.
