The North & Middle Andaman District Police recently concluded the A&N Police Raising Week with a grand “Badakhana” — a joyous get-together and cultural event that celebrated the unity, dedication, and hard work of the police force. Police personnel and their families gathered to mark the occasion in high spirits, emphasizing camaraderie and shared values.

The week-long festivities honored the outstanding contributions of the police force, with awards presented for Best Crime Detection, Best Investigation Officer, Best Performer at PS/FS/PR/PMF levels, and other notable achievements.

The celebrations featured a dynamic array of activities designed to foster teamwork and community engagement. The centerpiece was the SP-Cup Cricket Tournament 2025, held at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder, where 16 teams competed with enthusiasm. The tournament culminated in an electrifying final, with awards distributed to promote sportsmanship and fitness.

Other highlights included a thrilling doubles badminton tournament, a spirited Kabaddi match, and lively volleyball games, all reflecting the district’s commitment to nurturing camaraderie and sportsmanship among its personnel.

Police families and children were not left behind, enjoying fun activities at various stations, which further strengthened familial bonds and created lasting memories.

In a heartfelt gesture, visits were organized to honor retired officers and the families of martyrs, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the force and the nation.

Special initiatives such as “Vayovandan” empowered senior citizens by educating them about their rights, while “SagarDarshi” engaged fishermen, enhancing vigilance against illegal activities at sea.

Adding an educational dimension, school students were invited to visit police stations, offering them a rare insight into the inner workings of law enforcement. Interactive sessions highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the police, the importance of public safety, and the challenges of maintaining law and order. These tours provided students with a deeper appreciation for the pivotal role played by the police in their communities.

The celebrations also emphasized wellness and social responsibility. Police personnel and their families participated in rejuvenating yoga sessions, indoor games, and impactful beach cleanups. Awareness campaigns, including fire safety classes, essay competitions, and mock drills, actively involved the community in safety and preparedness initiatives.

The A&N Police Raising Week was a resounding success, embodying the values of sportsmanship, unity, and community engagement. It reinforced the public-police relationship, showcasing the police force’s commitment to serving and safeguarding the community.
