In an ongoing effort to combat the illegal production and distribution of illicit liquor, the North & Middle Andaman District Police achieved a significant victory by destroying approximately 400 litres of lehan and seizing 40 litres of illicit liquor in a strategic operation led by ASI Muchary Munda and a dedicated team of officers from the Billiground Police Station.

The crackdown, conducted in the dense jungles of Badamnallah, was aimed at curbing bootlegging activities and eradicating the menace of illegal alcohol trade within the region. The operation was carried out under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

Lehan, a key ingredient in the production of illegal country liquor, has posed a persistent challenge in the region, contributing to various social issues and public safety hazards. Recognising the gravity of the situation, the North & Middle Andaman District Police has intensified its efforts to dismantle the networks involved in the production and distribution of illicit liquor.

In a Press statement, the police acknowledged that this successful operation was another significant step in the ongoing fight against illicit liquor, bootlegging, and drug abuse in the North & Middle Andaman District.
