North & Middle Andaman District Police has been conducting regular raids to crack down on the sale of Illicit Ganja, Illicit Liquor, Handia and IMFL. In July, the teams of various police stations, headed by SHOs and Sub-Inspectors conducted jungle searches to destroy Illicit Liquor/Lehan. Regular raids were also conducted to curb the illegal sale of IMFL & Handia.

Strict vigil is being kept over the history sheeters and known bootleggers which is making it hard for them to be involved in any illegal activity.

In July, the district police registered a total of 18 cases for the violation of the Excise Regulation, in which 18 accused were arrested with 45 bottles of various quantities of IMFL, 18 kgs. Handia and 11 ltr illicit liquor.

2 kg Ganja was also seized and a case under NDPS Act was registered.

50 public awareness campaigns were also conducted to urge people not to indulge in illegal drinking.

The general public has been requested to pass on credible information regarding any illegal activities to their nearest police station or on the phone Nos.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and the informers will also be suitably rewarded.
