In a significant push to promote strategic thinking and intellectual development among youth, the North & Middle Andaman District Police, in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA), has announced the 1st SP (North & Middle Andaman) District Open Chess Tournament 2025. The tournament is scheduled to take place on May 25, 2025, at the Rangat Panchayat Hall.
This first-of-its-kind initiative by the district police aims to encourage participation in chess as a means of fostering cognitive growth, concentration, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills. The tournament is open to all interested players from the region, with no entry fee required.
However, participants must be registered with the All India Chess Federation (AICF) for the 2025–26 cycle. Those who have not yet registered can do so via the AICF portal at https://prs.aicf.in/players. The last date for entry submission is May 23, 2025, by 5:00 PM.
