Notice Issued to Chakroborty Hospital on Complaints of Exorbitant Treatment Charges

Social Media in Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been abuzz with the news of the demise of Mr. Goutham Roy a promising youth from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 

Mr. Goutham Roy was being treated at Chakroborthy Hospital, Dollygunj, Port Blair and later he was shifted to G.B Pant Hospital where he passed away. Allegations of overcharging for treatment of deceased Mr. Goutham Roy is being levelled on Chakroborthy Hospital and complaints have also been filed with the Office of the District Magistrate, South Andaman and The Chairman, District Registering Authority, South Andaman for The Clinical Establishment (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010.

The District Magistrate/Chairman, District Registering Authority, South Andaman based on the allegations on the social media and the complaints received by his office against M/s Chakraborty Hospital, Dollygunj, Port Blair, for charging exorbitant treatment charges for treatment of late Mr. Goutam Roy, has issued a notice to Chakraborty Hospital.

The District Magistrate/Chairman, District Registering Authority, South Andaman has asked the hospital to submit detailed information regarding the case and has also sought clarifications if any within three days. The notice said that action will be taken as per the norms, if the hospital fails to furnish the information and clarification sought within the time.
