In a meticulously planned and efficient operation executed on October 29, 2023, the Rangat Police successfully apprehended a notorious drug trafficker and confiscated a substantial quantity of illicit ganja.
The operation unfolded after the Rangat Police received credible information from an informant regarding an individual identified as Milan Krishna Roy, a resident of Bakultala. The informant’s tip-off suggested that Roy was preparing to distribute illicit ganja to customers.
Upon receiving this critical information, it was promptly relayed to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Rangat, Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal. Following this, a rapid response raiding team was assembled, led by Inspector R.K Mazumder, the Station House Officer of PS Rangat. The team included constables Anil Yadav, Sameer, Sunita Das, and CH Ram Prasad. Two independent witnesses, Mr. Ashim Kumar Bepari and Mr. Mahesh, also accompanied the raiding team.
The operation began at approximately 10:00 AM, and by early afternoon, the suspect, Milan Krishna Roy, who matched the description provided by the informant, was located near Bakultala Junction. The raiding team promptly confronted him and discovered a polythene packet containing 355 grams of illicit ganja in his possession.
Following the successful apprehension, Milan Krishna Roy, a 52-year-old resident of Bakultala, was placed under arrest under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, for his involvement in this illegal activity.
The entire operation was executed under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal (DANIPS), SDPO (Rangat), with overall direction and supervision provided by Mrs. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police for the North & Middle Andaman District.
