The State President of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. M.A Sajid, has called upon the authorities to address pressing concerns regarding the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) Girls Hostel. In a formal letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the A & N Islands, Mr. Sajid underscored the need for immediate action in opening and renovating certain crucial blocks within the hostel premises.
Despite the completion of construction work on new blocks at the JNRM Girls Hostel, these buildings remain unoccupied, leaving numerous students in a state of distress. Mr. Sajid expressed his concern, stating, “Many girl students from the Inter-Islands face several difficulties and hardships in finding suitable accommodation facilities which negatively impacts their focus on studies and overall well-being.”
Furthermore, Mr. Sajid drew attention to the Ganga Block situated within the Girls Hostel Campus of JNRM, which is currently in a disputed condition. He pointed out that although the tender for the renovation work of the Ganga Block have been granted to a contractor, no work has commenced to date.
Taking into account these issues, Mr. Sajid has fervently requested the expedited completion of all necessary processes and preparations required to make the hostel fully functional. He has also urged the authorities to provide a clear timeline for the development and occupancy of the JNRM Girls Hostel Blocks.
