The National Students Union of India’s State President, Mr. M.A. Sajid, has fervently demanded the expedited recruitment to 413 Primary School Teacher (PST) posts within the Education Department.

In a pointed letter directed to the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, Mr. Sajid underscored that the Education Department had notified to fill up the 413 vacant PST posts that were previously deemed abolished. He emphasised that the requisite Recruitment Rules (RR) for these positions had been released earlier.

Mr. Sajid, in his communication, urged the Chief Secretary to expedite the recruitment procedure for these vacant posts, urging for completion of the recruitment process by the end of January 2024. His impetus behind this accelerated timeline was to afford the unemployed youth residing in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands an opportunity they have awaited for a staggering 8 to 10 years.

Furthermore, highlighting a recent trend observed during the GTT recruitment process, Mr. Sajid shed light on the significant number of mainland youths who had submitted their applications online. This influx of applications from outside the region raised concerns regarding the potential disadvantage faced by local youths seeking employment.

To address this issue and prioritise the employment prospects for islander youth, Mr. Sajid made a compelling plea to the Chief Secretary. He advocated for the consideration of accepting application forms for the anticipated PST post recruitments through an “Offline” mode. He firmly asserted that adopting this approach would markedly enhance the chances of Andaman & Nicobar Islander youths securing these job opportunities.
