Shanti Teresa Lakra, a Nurse from Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been announced as one of the top ten finalists of the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2023.
More than 50,000 nurses from across the globe competed for the coveted award. Each of the finalists has a remarkable trajectory and has made a significant contribution to the field of nursing.
The winner of the award will receive US $2,50,000 (INR 2,05,10,212. 50/- in todays Exchange Rate).
The finalists will now face a public voting process, followed by a final evaluation by the Grand Jury Judging panel.
Shanti Lakra worked amongst the PVTGs of the Islands and is deeply committed to serving the people. Following the Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004, which resulted in the Ongees moving deep in the jungle, Shanti was perseverant and made her home with them, in an open tent.
