Offices of Nicobar District Administration Awarded ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management

Several Offices of Nicobar District Administration have earned the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 Certification, marking a significant achievement in its commitment to upholding quality management standards within its administrative framework. This certification highlights the district’s dedication to providing high-quality public services and maintaining operational excellence.

In a virtual ceremony held on October 1, 2024, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, officially handed over the certification to Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar. The event celebrated the district’s achievement and underscored its ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and accountability to the community.

The certification has been awarded to key administrative offices within Nicobar District, including the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nicobar District; the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Nancowry; the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Campbell Bay; and the Tehsildar’s Office, Campbell Bay. These offices now stand as models of quality management in line with global standards.

ISO 9001:2015 is an internationally recognised standard that emphasises various aspects of quality management, ensuring that organisations consistently meet both customer and regulatory requirements. By achieving this certification, Nicobar District has demonstrated its success in streamlining processes and improving service quality across multiple departments.

The District Administration has recently implemented several new systems aimed at enhancing service delivery. These initiatives include the establishment of Free Wi-Fi Zones to ensure connectivity across the islands, the creation of a District Information System for centralised access to important information, and an online Helicopter Ticket and Accommodation Booking System, which simplifies travel and accommodation arrangements for both residents and visitors.

These innovations are designed to address the unique challenges faced by islanders living in remote areas, ensuring that services are easily accessible and that every member of society receives assistance according to their needs. The district’s initiatives reflect its unwavering commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, further solidifying its role as a forward-thinking administration.

The ISO 9001:2015 Certification not only recognises Nicobar District’s past achievements but also sets the stage for future advancements in public service delivery, assuring residents of continued improvements in quality and efficiency across the region.
