On December 16, 2023, Mr. Ankit Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, DPC of MGNREGA for N & M Andaman, accompanied by Mr. Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS (P), BDO Diglipur, and officials, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) projects.
The inspection covered various projects, including the construction of Community Soak pits and the fencing of Anganwadi Centre under GP Diglipur, alongside initiatives on public and private lands of households belonging to BPL families and small & marginal farmers under GP Radhanagar. Interacting with MGNREGA beneficiaries at these sites, Yadav stressed the provision of employment on demand and essential facilities like sheds, crèches, safe drinking water, and first aid boxes at work locations.
Yadav emphasized the need to initiate more permissible works on lands owned by households of BPL families, small & marginal farmers, and PMAY(G) beneficiaries. Prioritizing activities like horticulture plantations, goat/poultry farming which aligns with MGNREGA guidelines, aiming to bolster livelihoods and improve economic conditions.
Regarding financial allocations, Yadav informed that Rs.33.00 Lakh had been earmarked for settling pending material bills in the Diglipur Block. Additionally, he highlighted the ongoing examination of proposals for new material rates in Diglipur and Rangat Blocks, slated for finalisation soon.
Instructing the officials to prioritize completion of incomplete works, Yadav specifically emphasized the urgency in finishing construction projects for individual and Community soak pits under Solid Liquid Waste Management (SLWM).
Commending the efforts of MGNREGA block officials and PRIs, Yadav applauded their commitment to providing timely employment to households and meeting the mandated targets for generating man-days under MGNREGA for the fiscal year 2023-24.
