In a swift and efficient operation, a team from the Ograbraj Police Station (PS) successfully solved a theft case, leading to the apprehension of the accused and the complete recovery of the stolen items. This follows the police department’s ongoing commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against crime.
On November 26, 2024, a complaint was lodged by Muthu Krishnan (39), a resident of Tushnabad, regarding the theft of 10 gas cylinders from the LPG distribution truck of Priya Indane Company. The truck had been parked at Ram Nagar, Caddlegunj due to a technical breakdown. The thief broke into the back compartment of the truck and stole the cylinders, which were part of a stock of 324 empty gas cylinders.
Prompt action was taken by the police, and a case was registered at PS Ograbraj. Under the supervision of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO of PS Ograbraj, a dedicated investigation team was formed. The team included SI Mohd Rafique, PSI Abhishek G S P, PSI S Goutham, PSI N Karthik Rajan, ASI Ranjit Baroi (Investigating Officer), ASI P Abdul Salam, HC Khokan Dutta, HC S Vijay Kumar, and other officers from PS Ograbraj.
The investigation involved careful examination of technical evidence and gathering of local intelligence, which eventually led to the identification of the suspect. The accused, Durga Tirkey (35), a private driver and former employee of Priya Indane Company, was apprehended.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of SI Devanand Pathak and the supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, and Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
