In a significant initiative to enhance the living conditions of children in care, the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), under the Directorate of Social Welfare, collaborated with Oil India Ltd. to donate water purifiers to 11 Child Care Institutions (CCIs) at Seva Niketan, Dairy Farm. This program is part of ongoing efforts to support the welfare of vulnerable children residing in these homes.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the Program Manager of SCPS, who outlined the objectives of Mission Vatsalya, a flagship government scheme dedicated to child protection and welfare. She emphasized the program’s commitment to ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of at-risk children.

Mr. Anjan Jyoti Phukan, Executive Director (KGB & MBP) from Oil India Ltd., spoke about the company’s substantial contributions to this initiative as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. As a Maharatna public sector enterprise, Oil India Ltd. has pledged to provide essential resources—including computers, printers, projectors with screens, UPS, smart TVs, and water purifiers—to the 11 CCIs across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This support aims to uplift and improve the lives of children in these communities.

In-charges from all the Child Care Institutions attended the event, sharing their experiences and expressing how these improvements would positively impact the lives of the children under their care. A special highlight was a cultural program organized by the children of Seva Niketan, adding a lively and heartfelt dimension to the day’s proceedings.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the In-charge of Seva Niketan, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries from Oil India Ltd. and the Director of Social Welfare for their generous support and collaboration in this meaningful endeavour. This partnership underscores the vital role of community and corporate involvement in enhancing the welfare of children in need.
