One Stop Centre Conducts Awareness and Cleanliness Drives During Swachhata Pakhwada

The One Stop Centre (OSC) under the Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organised a series of awareness programmes and cleanliness drives across multiple locations as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada observed from March 1 to 15.

The initiative aimed to promote hygiene, sanitation, and community participation, with activities conducted at several locations including Anganwadi Centres and community halls in Ranchi Basti, Nayagaon, Nayasahar, Junglighat, Calicut, Namunaghar, and Gandhi Nagar.

As part of the campaign, awareness sessions were held at the Anganwadi Centre in Ranchi Basti, while cleanliness drives were undertaken at Nayagaon Anganwadi Centre, Community Hall Nayasahar, and Junglighat to encourage a clean and healthy environment.

Special awareness programmes were organised for women and adolescent girls at Thoratang Nallah, focusing on personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, and sanitation practices. An interaction session was also conducted at the Community Hall in Calicut to engage local residents on issues related to cleanliness and public health.

In Namunaghar, a plantation drive coupled with a cleanliness activity was carried out at the Community Hall to promote environmental sustainability alongside sanitation.

Further, an awareness session at Gandhi Nagar Gram Panchayat educated participants on proper handwashing techniques, the importance of using sanitary pads, and maintaining personal hygiene.

The Directorate reiterated its commitment to fostering awareness on hygiene and sanitation, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in building a cleaner and healthier society.
