The One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare conducted an awareness session on cyber security threats and cyber laws, aiming to enhance participants’ understanding of emerging risks in the digital space. The programme was held at the Directorate of Education.

Ms. Rukhsar Rahim, Para Legal Lawyer at the One Stop Centre, welcomed the attendees. The session’s Resource Person, Mr. Hari Krishna, SI, CID Branch, highlighted the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and stressed that many incidents occur due to inadequate user awareness. He outlined various forms of cybercrime, including email scams, social media and banking fraud, e-commerce fraud, data breaches, lottery scams, QR-code fraud, online job scams, bank link-share scams and investment fraud.

He also discussed the broader challenges associated with cyber security and advised participants to remain cautious when receiving emails from unknown senders and to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing sensitive information in response to unverified communications.

During the session, the helpline number for cybercrime complaints—1930—was shared with the participants. Ms. Meenal Rajan, Case Worker at the One Stop Centre, also briefed the gathering on the Centre’s role in providing integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence in both private and public spaces.
