Under the Government of India’s Mission Shakti initiative, the Union Territory Administration is actively implementing the One Stop Centre (OSC) Scheme to support women facing violence or distress in both private and public spaces.

These centres offer integrated services under one roof, providing immediate and emergency assistance to women in need. Services include medical aid, legal support, temporary shelter for a maximum of five days, police assistance, and psychological counselling. The aim is to empower women to combat all forms of violence effectively.

At present, three One Stop Centres are operational across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The OSC for South Andaman is located near AYUSH Hospital in Junglighat, the centre for North and Middle Andaman functions from the Zonal Library building in Mayabunder, and the Nicobar district’s OSC operates out of Perka Headquarters.

Women in distress can access help by contacting the respective centres:

• South Andaman: 03192-234221

• North & Middle Andaman: 03192-273009

• Nicobar District: 03193-265141

Assistance can also be sought by visiting the centres directly or through Anganwadi workers, relatives, friends, or any public servant.

Since their establishment, the OSCs have handled numerous cases, offering timely support and resolution. Any aggrieved woman—whether from urban, rural, or tribal areas—can approach the centres for redressal of grievances, family dispute mediation, and matters concerning personal safety and security.
