Eligible students belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been invited to apply online for fresh and renewal applications under various scholarship schemes through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), Government of India.
According to the notification, the portal opened on 22nd August 2025 for submission of applications. The last date to apply online for all schemes is 31st October 2025. Defective application verification and institute verification must be completed by 15th November 2025, followed by DNO/SNO verification by 30th November 2025. For the Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship and the Grant of Additional Scholarship (UT) for OBC students, the final deadline for verification has been extended to 31st December 2025.
The schemes include the Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC students of Classes IX and X, the Post-Matric Scholarship to OBC and EBC students (for studies after Class XI onwards), the Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for Economically Backward Class Students of the Islands (after Class XI onwards), and the Grant of Additional Scholarship (UT) to OBC students pursuing higher education anywhere in India (except Class XI & XII).
For Pre and Post Matric Scholarships, applicants’ parental annual income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum. For the Additional Scholarship (UT), the parental annual income ceiling is Rs. 8 lakh per annum.
Students have been advised to apply through the official NSP website at https://scholarships.gov.in. While registering, applicants under the Additional Scholarship (UT) must select “Incentive Scheme” under the ‘Scheme Type’ dropdown.
Authorities have further advised students to ensure that their bank accounts are active, Aadhaar-seeded, and compliant with bank requirements to prevent delays or failures in disbursement. Students are urged to submit their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.
