On 26th November 2024, a swift and effective operation led by the team from OP Ferrargunj under PS Ograbraj successfully disrupted an illegal liquor production operation in the Caddlegunj jungle, seizing a substantial quantity of illicit lehan.
Acting on credible intelligence, ASI Abdul Salam, in charge of OP Ferrargunj, formed a team comprising HC Khokan Duuta, PC V M Shahid, and PC Samsuddin to carry out the operation. The team confiscated 165 litres of illicit lehan, along with utensils and timber materials used for its production. All the seized items were immediately destroyed, significantly crippling the illegal liquor trade in the area.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO PS Ograbraj, with supervision from Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, and overall guidance from Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
Authorities are urging the public to actively participate in maintaining law and order by reporting any instances of illegal activities to the police at 100, 112, or 03192-250525. Informants’ identities will remain confidential.
