The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs is organising an open Sea Swimming Competition from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (Ross Island) to Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, Aberdeen Jetty, Port Blair on March 18 under various categories viz. Men’s Open (18 years to 50 years), Men’s Open (50 years to 60 years), Men’s Open (60 years to 70 years), Women’s Open (18 years and above), Above 12 to 18 years Boys and Above 12 to 18 years Girls and above 70 years.
The 1st position will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- with a trophy, 2nd position will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 30,000/- with a trophy and 2nd Runner-up will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- with a trophy. Participants who finish well in time will be awarded consolation prize money of Rs.1000/-.
Interested persons willing to participate have been asked to register their names for the Swimming competition. They have been asked to collect the entry form & indemnity Bond from the Office of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Netaji Stadium, Port Blair, by 15th March. The Medical check-up for the registered participants/swimmers for all categories will be held at DHS, Port Blair, till 15th March 2023. The last date for submitting the entry form along with the indemnity bond & medical fitness certificate is 15th March 2023 by 5 pm. The Swimming trial will be conducted on 16th March 2023, from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Swimming Pool, Netaji Stadium, Port Blair. After the Swimming trial, the briefing session will be conducted by Dr. V. Selvam, Chief Referee at the Swimming Pool.
