In a commendable display of diligence, the Pahargaon Police team showcased their efficiency once again as they apprehended an individual under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, seizing 52 grams of illicit cannabis.
On the 17th of April 2024, amid heightened security measures for the 2024 general elections, the police intensified their scrutiny by conducting meticulous vehicle and personal checks near Hotel Zone Connect under Pahargaon jurisdiction. During this operation, Sub-Inspector Saorabh Kumar Pandey of PS Pahargaon received crucial intelligence regarding the movement of illegal substances, prompting further scrutiny.
Delving into their search, the vigilant team uncovered a suspicious package wrapped in transparent polythene, suspected to contain illicit substances, in the possession of Jasveer Singh (24) from Sippighat.
Responding swiftly to the situation, a specialized unit, under the command of SHO Anushtha Kalia, IPS (P), and comprising Police Constables S.N. Pathak, Santosh Lal, Sandeep Lakra, and D. Shiv Kumar, meticulously verified the contents using cutting-edge drug detection technology.
The meticulous operation resulted in the immediate arrest of the accused on the scene. Through extensive procedural measures, 52 grams of cannabis were confiscated from his possession. This success underscores the unwavering commitment of Pahargaon Police to combat illicit activities and uphold law and order.
The entire operation took place under the direction of Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO, South Andaman, and under the overall supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
