National Science Day is celebrated annually on February 28 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by renowned Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. The Government of India designated this day as National Science Day in 1986, and since then, various programs and activities have been organized across the country to promote scientific awareness.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), A&N Administration, will mark the occasion this year by organizing a Painting Competition for college students on the theme “Science for a Sustainable Future”. The competition will be held at Science & Technology Bhawan, Dollygunj, on February 26, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM.

Interested students can register with Mr. P. Senthil Kumar, Artist, DST, by contacting 9474213985. Participants can also register directly at the venue before the event begins.

Students have been advised to bring their own drawing materials, while drawing sheets will be provided by the organizers. Winners of the competition will receive certificates and prizes.

National Science Day serves as a reminder of the importance of science in shaping a sustainable future, encouraging young minds to engage and contribute through innovative ideas and creative expression.
