A resident of Panipat Road has reported being defrauded of over Rs. 15 lakh through a sophisticated online scam.

As per the FIR, on September 13, 2025, the resident was contacted online through Telegram by an unknown individual offering a work-from-home opportunity with zero investment for a company named Collection of Style (website: https://csfashions.shop). The individual instructed him to register on the company’s website in order to begin trial work.

On September 17, 2025, the resident registered on the website and was added to a Telegram group created by the company, along with a customer care support handle on the platform. The assigned work involved “grabbing” or processing orders from the company’s website, with the assurance that corresponding amounts would be credited to a digital wallet, from where the funds could be transferred further.

The trial work started the same day with 50 orders, earning the resident a profit of Rs. 1,082.71. Encouraged by this initial return, he made a first investment of Rs. 10,000, which was credited back to him as profit. Believing the platform to be legitimate, he was gradually persuaded to deposit more funds.

Over the following days, the resident made multiple payments to the platform, with the promise of regular profits. In total, he deposited Rs. 15,33,033 through various bank accounts and digital payment methods. However, none of the promised returns were received, and he realized that he had been defrauded by unknown individuals operating through Telegram groups and handles.

The FIR details that the fraud involved coordinated activity via Telegram groups and customer support handles, which were used to convince the victim to continue investing and create a sense of legitimacy.

The resident also lodged a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal on September 25, 2025, and has requested formal action against the fraudsters. He has provided a detailed account of all transactions, showing the gradual escalation of investments under the guise of earning profits.

The case highlights the growing risk of online financial frauds facilitated through social media platforms like Telegram, where fraudulent groups and support handles can create convincing schemes to lure victims into transferring substantial amounts of money.
