The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is organising Parakram Diwas–2026 at Sri Vijaya Puram in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from January 23 to 25, as part of nationwide celebrations marking the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The commemorative events will also be held simultaneously at 13 other iconic locations across the country associated with Netaji’s life and legacy.
The main function in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will take place on January 23 at 4.00 pm at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram. During the inaugural programme, the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s message on the occasion of Parakram Diwas 2026 will be broadcast. The event will be graced by Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, as the Chief Guest.
The celebrations will feature a spectacular drone show and grand cultural performances by renowned artists, including Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Papon, Amaan Ali Bangash, Ayaan Ali Bangash, Mangli, Raghu Dixit, Pratibha Singh Baghel, and the Sourendro–Soumyojit duo, along with performances by school children from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
A mega exhibition on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will also be organised at the ITF Ground on January 24 and 25, accompanied by folk performances from different parts of the country. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample a variety of island cuisines and view a vibrant display of traditional handicrafts by tribal artists. A theatrical performance by the National School of Drama is scheduled as part of the cultural programme on January 24.
The three-day celebrations aim to honour the life, ideals and enduring legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose while highlighting India’s cultural diversity and unity, a PIB press release said.
