PCCF Inaugurates New Forest Station at Kharanallah in Mayabunder

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, inaugurated a newly established Forest Station at Kharanallah, Mayabunder, during his official tour of the Mayabunder Forest Division. The Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial Circle), Dr. A. Anil Kumar, IFS, was also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sinha underscored the vital role of Forest Stations in monitoring and preserving the biodiversity of the Islands. He reaffirmed the Forest Department’s commitment to sustainable forest management and the protection of the region’s rich natural resources.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the participation of senior officials from various departments, including Police, Health, and Veterinary Services, alongside local PRI representatives.

The newly established Forest Station is expected to bolster forest conservation and wildlife protection efforts in the region while also supporting local communities in a sustainable manner. Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mayabunder and Wildlife Division, Mr. Thomas Varghese, IFS, emphasized the station’s significance in strengthening conservation initiatives.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Mayabunder, Ms. Monideepa Chowdhury.
